Existing water pressure from residential home moves the water into the garden hose at a high velocity, this velocity is further accelerated by the Muck Vac power head. The increase in the velocity of flow of water corresponds to a decrease in the water pressure in the region of acceleration. When using Muc Vac in a pool of water, as long as the faucet is open, a difference in water pressure is maintained, and water in the pool is constantly rush toward the region of low pressure to maintain an equal pressure or an equilibrium (in the Muck Vac brush). This physical property creates the suction need to remove muck and waste from the bottom of pond or spa.

Q. How does it work?
A. It is a simple system which uses the water pressure from a standard garden hose to create a suction and vacuum the muck.

Q. Where does the muck and waste go?
A. The muck and waste is vacuumed up the telescopic pole and discharged to waste right out the end of the discharge hose, which we provide. You can allow it to go into a bucket, or right onto the lawn, garden or a deck drain.

Q. Does it put any water into the pond?
A. No, no water goes into the pond. The water is used purely for creating the suction. However, some water will be displaced from the pond, along with the muck and waste. It will definitely lower the water level.

Q. Will it pick up pebbles and small leaves?
A. Yes, the higher the water pressure the better the system will operate as far as sucking up small pebbles and leaves.

Q. How can I tell if I have 50psi water pressure?
A. You really can’t tell without buying a special gauge, but 50psi is usually standard. 50PSI is required to operate the unit.

Q. To what length does the telescopic pole extend?
A. Extends to 6 feet.

Firestone offers a great pond liner patch kit. We strongly recommend using QuickPrime adhesive whenever making a seam or repair.  The problem in the past was that the QuickPrime was only available in one gallon containers, which is way more than is needed for most patch jobs. The Water Wych was created over many years to keep the display ponds of the International Hardy Waterlily Collection free from algae. Since that time we have found other uses for the Water Wych including fountains and animal watering troughs.
